		<description><![CDATA[CONGREGATIONS come in all shapes and sizes, especially in Brooklyn. One thing they all have in common is the sacred duty to stand by their communities in times of trouble. This has been true since the days of the Underground Railroad, the Great Depression, all the way up to the Sanctuary Movement of the 1980's. "Sanctuary" (what many congregations call their main room), actually means a place of refuge and protection, a place of encouragement and hope. In these days of heightened stress and anxiety, congregations seek to provide spiritual strength in a weak economy and tangible help whenever they can.]]></description>
